BMX stands for bycicle motocross and is a form of cycling on bikes with 20 inch wheels. It originated in the USA in the last 1970's, where teenagers tried to imitate their motocross heroes on their pedal cycles. The sport features races on sandy and hilly tracks. Freestyle BMX has also been growing since the late 90's; performing tricks, stunts on flat grounds, wooden ramps or obstacles is al part of freestyle. BMX Cycling was integrated in the cycling family, the Union Cycliste Internationale, in 1987.
