Boomerang Boomerang is a sport which uses the boomerang, a curved wooden device which is thrown. A boomerang spins in flight, can travel long distances, and is designed to, when thrown correctly, to return to the person who threw it. International competitions came around in the 1980's, with championships being comprised of six events: accuracy, aussie round, maximum time aloft, trick catch, fast catch and endurance. The International Federation of Boomerang Associations was founded in 2004.
