Casting Casting originates from fishing. Instead of casting for bate, in this sport the equipment of line and hook are used for precision target and distance events on a grass field. There are nine events, and a number of combined events, like pentathlon, heptathlon, allround and team (pentathlon) competitions. In 1970 the two federations FCS and ICF combined for the first joined World Championship, making also the shift from water ponds to sporting grounds; the umbrella association, the International Casting Sport Federation was officially established as the governing body in 2003.
