Disability Sports
Disability Sports are sports played by athletes with disabilities. In many sports classifications are in order defined by the degree of function presented by the disability. Traditionally there are six different disability groups of athletes: amputee, cerebral palsy, visual impairment, spinal cord injuries, intellectual disability and a group which includes all those that do not fit into the aforementioned groups (les autres). There are a wide range of sports that have been adapted as well as several that are unique to disability sports. The largest event, the Paralympic Games, are organised by the International Paralympic Committee, which was founded in 1989.
