Duathlon
Duathlon is an athletic event that consists of a running leg, followed by a cycling leg and then of another running leg in a format bearing some resemblance to triathlons. Distances in official duathlon competitions are 10 km running, 40 km cycling and 5 km running. Since the late 1990's races over longer distances were being organised, so an official long distance event was added to the competitions: 20 km running, 120 km cycling and 10 km running. The sport is governed by the International Triathlon Union, which was founded in 1989.
