English Billards, simply called Billiards in England, is a hybrid form of carom billiards and pocket billiards. Two white cue balls and a red object ball are used. The sport originated in England around 1800 from carambole games. Points are awarded for cannons, winning hazards on red or white, losing hazards or combinations. Winning is achieved by reaching a fixed points total. The International Billiards & Snooker Federation governes the game and was founded in 1971.
