Flying disc, or Frisbee, is a recreational activity and sport. The Frisbee is named after William Russel Frisbie, owner of a pie baking company in Connecticut, USA. Somehow his name got connected to the sport of throwing discs, from which the first plastic one was carved by Fred Morrison in 1947. In the 1960's the sport got organised in the USA, and spread in the seventees around the world. There are multiple events in this sport: Field Events, Freestyle, Ultimate, Disc Golf, Guts and Double Disc Court. The World Flying Disc Federation was founded in 1985.
