Football-like games have been recorded in history and undoubtedly predate recorded history in all parts of the world. The modern codes of football saw the light in 1848 at Cambridge University in England, where representatives from several schools produced the first set of modern rules. In 1862 the rules were revised and they are the basis of what we call Football today. Football Clubs had been established outside schools, and in 1863 the Football Association was founded in England. This XI vs XI game, where the object is to advance the ball by kicking to the opponent's end of the field where goals can be scored by putting the ball across the goal line between the posts and under a crossbar, has conquered the world from that time. It's the most popular and widespread sport in the world. The Fédération Internationale de Football Association was founded in 1904. In the 1990's women football finally got it's recognition as being seen as competitive sport.
