Gaelic Football
Gaelic Football is a competitive sport, played mainly in Ireland, and is best described as a mixture of football and rugby, though it predates both of these. Though it has existed for centuries, it was formally arranged into an organised playing code in the 19th century. The game is played with a round leather ball, with teams of 15 players on a pitch with at both ends goals in an 'H'-shape. If the ball is kicked into the lower section, a goal of 3 points is scored, if the ball goes over the bar, one point is scored. The sport is organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association, which was founded in 1884.
